During the upcoming weekend, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of October 2015, I will show newbies how to build simple but appealing sock puppets. The two-hour workshop takes place in Munich and will be repeated several times during these days. Is is part of an event around the DVD release of „Mara und der Feuerbringer“. If you are interested in getting one of the last free slots, contact either me or the organizers via the facebook fan page.

Linaria vulgaris
The mountain pastures are beautiful but we would have liked to find some specimen of common toadflax. The stupid plant does not grow there by itself and we couldn’t find artificial flowers. So I built it on my own…
I took apart several artificial Flowers, and re-arranged the most fitting parts. The blossoms are composite parts themselves.
It is a bit like a witches’ cauldron: Take Asparagus, Cuckooflower, Lupinis buds, yellow Dendrobium and Wisteria sinensis flowers, mince and mix thoroughly – behold my creation of toadflax!
The Alps, again!
New Documantary-Show about the Alps
Having just arrived from the Alps (remember the Cartoon Network shooting), we start pre-producing the next format featuring the Alps, namely a documentary. I am especially looking forward to the historical reenactments: from the early middle-ages until the end of the 19th century, there will be lots of eye candy as certificates, documents, maps, …!
“Bernd das Brot”: A Cat’s Tail
Bernd is back again!
Second day of shooting for three all-new episodes.
Morle is a mangey cat constantly straying around Bernd and getting on his nerves. The only thing you see from her is albeit her curling tail.
To make a realistic impression, I built the prop with anatomy in mind: a set of two opposing wire ropes moves the segmented tail, analogous to a real cat’s tail with its vertebrae and sinews. I think the motion is quite realistic!
Happy Easter!
“Mara und der Feuerbringer”: Tomorrow released in Cinemas
That was the trigger for me to give a try for my version of the poster. Some kind of wired puppet fan art… ;-)
Sadly, this will not be in theaters, however the original will!
Check it out here (in German).

Fake Latte Macchiato, long, looong lasting
After having worked recently on a coffee house set, I got the idea to share my admittedly simple, however effective recipe for a fake latte macchiato.
Last spring, I had to dress a whole sidewalk cafe. It wouldn’t have been possible to redress everything between shots for maintaining continuity. Therefore, I needed a solution that would last for the whole shooting day.
After carrying out a few experiments in the run up to the shoot, I found out that plain old canned shaving foam is the ideal solution. I just pour milk into the glass and add – very carefully – a little amount of strong coffee prepared from an instant product. Finally, I add a nice topping of shaving foam.
All ingredients can easily be kept ready to use. And the result looks stunning and really lasts for hours!
“Grimmepreis”: Nomination for two Shows
These are news I like! Both shows I recently worked on are nominated for one of Germany’s most important TV-awards, the “Grimme-Preis”. The bad thing: Both, “Habe die Ehre” for “Bayerischer Rundfunk” as well as “Cartoon Network – Spurensuche” are competing in the same category…

Pilot for a Puppet Web Series
Now all the details of the last weeks come together: beginning with the draft of December 2nd, the fake confectionery from December 5th, loads of custom made decoration in puppet scale and the puppets. Welcome to Coffee & Treat
Main Cast Part II
Together with the waitress of the coffee shop the main cast of the upcomming webseries.
A last-minute revision of the script forced me to totally re-style the puppet. Originally, I had a much younger character in mind. Finally, all that was left (apart from the “naked” puppet) was the nose.
Above, the final charakter after the changings. Below the much younger predecessor version.
